Community

Welcome to the Looking Glass Photo Community page!

This is where you will be able to interact directly with not only Looking Glass staffers, but also each other as members of our photographic community. Here you will be able to share your pictures, thoughts and ideas as well as keep up to date on Looking Glass classes, events, and hopefully find new and interesting info from our blog. We created this page specifically so that our customers could interact and share with their own community of folks who have a common interest in photography, but it doesn't work unless you participate. So if you haven't created your own username and password yet, please do and now you too can participate in the Looking Glass Photo Community!

Friends of LG

The Friends of LG page is full of links to various friends of LG websites! Use it as a reference to find manufacturer websites, cool photo sites, local galleries and museums, customer websites and more! If you have a website you'd like to see included here just let us know!

Blog

We're bloggerific! And we're really excited about having officially entered the giant world of the blogosphere. In our blog you will find useful information as we test out products and tell you all about them, have special guest bloggers from within the photographic community, give you a little history lesson here and there, and tell you all about exciting happenings both in the store and out and about in the Bay Area artistic community. If you have an idea for a blog topic, or are interested in being a guest blogger please feel free to submit your suggestion here. We're just getting started and hope to have new blog topics posted weekly (but we're definitely shooting for updates no less than once a month).

Calendar

The Calendar page is a quick and easy calender-style view of all the scheduled events and classes happening at Looking Glass. You can click through on any of the highlighted events and get a full description of them right here. Easy-Peasy.

Special Events

Did you know that we host a number of Special Events throughout the year? Well now we've given you a one stop shop for figuring out what's going on and coming up at Looking Glass. Our event types vary a lot. We've previously hosted a summer lecture series, an annual print swap, book signings, various workshops, Halloween portrait shoots, numerous photo contests, Demo Days, and of course our famous annual Tent Event. Check out the Special Events page to see what's coming up next here at the store!

Forum

The Looking Glass Forum is finally here. This is the place to start a conversation with the Looking Glass Community. Feel free to post your questions, comment on other people's threads, set up a time to go out shooting somewhere special and see how many other community members want to join you, or... *anything you like. This page is here for your use and enjoyment! (*Please keep it 'family friendly' in content. Blatantly offensive items will be removed at our discretion. If you notice something un-community-like going on please let us know at info@lookingglassphoto.com)

Gallery

And this is what we've really all been waiting for, The Looking Glass Photo Community Gallery! Finally a place to share what you do with other people in your community who all have a passion for photography. Upload your pictures here and comment on other user's images. You can check out whatever randomly shows up in the gallery or search specifically by username. See an image you like? Type that person's username into the username search, hit 'apply' and you'll be able to see everything they have submitted. Chances are good you're gonna find some new artists whose work is worth getting to know. Leave a comment on their pic and you can start a dialogue with them directly, find out how they shot their image, where they took it, what kind of gear they used, whether or not they might be interested in a print swap, or even better, how you can support their work by buying a print... you know, interact with your photographic community and support each other's artistic efforts! This functionality is tricky and we're still working out how to make it run smoothly and effectively. If you have any thoughts on how to make your user experience better please let us know...  bear in mind that we have been working really hard on this, so compliments are welcome and appreciated as well.
