Rentals
Looking Glass Photo offers a wide selection of photography equipment for rental including lighting kits, digital SLR outfits, the Nikon CoolScan 5000 slide and film scanner, Nikon D700 & D5000, Canon 5D Mark II, tripods, lenses, and backgrounds. Our rental department is open Monday thru Friday from 10am 'til 7 pm. Your reserved rental item will be available for you to pick up by 3pm on the date you have it reserved for and is due back into the store by noon on the designated date of return. Please call 510-548-6888 for more information, or to reserve a specific item.
All rentals require a credit card or cash deposit equal to the replacement value of the item. Please bring in a picture ID and a major credit (not debit) card when you come in to rent an item. It is best to call ahead to reserve an item.
Special Weekend Deal:
Pick up your rental between 3pm-7pm on Friday and return it by noon Monday, and you'll only be charged for one day. THE RENTAL DEPARTMENT IS CLOSED ON SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS, so if you want to rent equipment over the weekend, Friday is the time to do it!
*One half of your initial rental (up to one week) may be applied to the purchase of the same or similar item. Ask your Looking Glass rep for details.

We provide all chemistry, tanks, trays, and an RC dryer. NO fiber dryer or dry mount press available. We have paper and blotter books for sale if you need them, so all you really need to bring are your negatives. We expect our patrons to have a working knowledge of developing/printing techniques. If you need a refresher, we offer a once-monthly class that covers developing and printing.
All applicable developing times are posted for customer use.
Hours of operation: The darkroom closes exactly half an hour before the store itsself closes, no exceptions. Darkroom hours are as follows:
Mon-Fri: 9:00 - 7:30
Saturday 10:00 - 5:30
Sunday: 11:00 - 4:30
