Landscape Photography Techniques, Composition and Editing - The Complete Experience

    • Saturday, December 4th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm: An in-person, outdoor field shoot with hands-on, real-time guidance from Vincent Versace. (There may also be an opportunity for a morning shoot in addition the primary, afternoon shoot!)
    • Sunday, December 5th from 10:00am to 1:00pm (or as late as 2:00pm): An in-person (in the classroom at Looking Glass) Photoshop editing & printing class/demonstration. We will also stream the class via Zoom for those of you that would prefer to learn from home, as opposed to an indoor small group setting.

NOTE: We also recommend attending his FREE Talk that is scheduled for the evening of December 2nd (a Thursday, two days prior to this workshop): “Time with Vincent Versace: 21st Century Composition Theory.”  This will be a great intro and warm-up for the workshop experience. On-Location Landscapes Shoot (in-person, small group):

Timed for shooting that occurs leading up to and during Golden Hour, this workshop is a must for anyone looking to “learn by doing” with in-person guidance from a true master, Vincent Versace (his bio and background are detailed below). There may also be a morning shoot added to this schedule - determined by student interest and weather.

We all know that landscape photography is extremely popular for many (obvious) reasons. But how do we get beyond a “typical” landscape and create something extra special? Vincent has been refining his skills and techniques for decades and this is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from him, in the field, as you are in the process of capturing landscapes. He will teach you to think outside the box, how to think about your composition in real-time, AND how to think in advance about what to look for when wanting to convert to black & white.

Location is TBD, but will be in either the East Bay or Marin County. You will need your own method of transportation to and fro the location.

Prerequisites: Recommended for anyone who has a basic or better knowledge of their controls, such as aperture and shutter speed. If you want to get the most from this workshop, a tripod is also highly recommended.

Editing Class (In-Person or Virtual, you choose!):

Tweak and tweak again! Learn to make your landscapes breathtaking. Vincent will teach by demonstration, with Photoshop. Students from the Field Shoot session will be invited to submit an image or two (from the shoot) for editing by Vincent during this session. He will randomly choose several images from these submissions, and will teach his techniques and process as the goes, explaining what he is doing — and why. The focus: Advanced Black and White conversion techniques as well as color processing techniques.
