TIMING:
Limited to just eight students, this popular class for beginners is taught by longtime Looking Glass teacher, Dave Strauss, in our classroom. The class runs on Thursday, October 10th from 10:30am until approximately 1:30pm.
DETAILS:
We know you want to take engaging, memorable, high-impact photos! It’s true, you can “point and shoot” modern digital cameras. They can select all the settings for you. In many situations, your camera can take excellent photos even if you don’t know much about the underlying principles. However, your investment in learning PHOTOGRAPHIC FUNDAMENTALS will deliver big returns as you learn to guide your intelligent camera to do exactly what YOU want it to do. This workshop helps you understand the key concepts that enable you to make photographs that are more expressive, more precise, more compelling, and far more closely aligned with your creative vision.
In commonly used modes, your camera makes important decisions for you based on metering and scene analysis algorithms that may or may not comport with your creative intentions. This workshop is intended for beginning and intermediate photographers who will learn to combine their new understanding of photographic fundamentals with smart camera intelligence to achieve much better images.
This highly interactive workshop is limited to 8 students. Designed and taught by photographer and longtime Looking Glass instructor Dave Strauss, the workshop consists of 3 hours of highly interactive exploration of CORE CONCEPTS in photography: We’ll discuss aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focus/depth-of-field - through lecture, slide presentation, demonstrations, and camera-in-hand exercises. There will be plenty of opportunity to answer your questions.
