We will finish up on Sunday, February 2nd at 10am with an Online Live (via Zoom) image review of our favorite pictures from the day. We're launching our classes and experiences this year with early bird (did we just make a pun??) special pricing! The sale price above will be valid through January 18th.
The experience begins on Tuesday, Jan 21st at 5:30pm from the comfort of your own home for an Online Live (via Zoom) webinar. Led by conservation photographer Joshua Asel and Looking Glass Photo's Jen Waicukauski, the webinar will prepare you for our visit with the birds and good folks of the Bird Rescue Center. We will provide gear suggestions as well as Tips & Tricks for photographing the birds in this unique environment. Jen and Joshua will also walk you through what to expect from our time at the Rescue Center with plenty of opportunity for Q&A before we go. If you are unable to attend the zoom meeting, never fear! We will record it for you to review at your convenience.
Next up, time with the birds! Join Joshua and Jen at the The Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County on Saturday, January 25th 10am-noon! The two hour, live photography event at the Center will get us up close and personal with multiple bird ambassadors. We will be learning the stories of these resilient creatures and the help they have received due to the extraordinary efforts of the Bird Rescue Center and through the generous donations of a community that truly cares about birds. You will have ample time and opportunity with multiple birds to make unique and engaging images of these beautiful creatures on the glove with their volunteer handlers. Joshua and Jen will be available to assist with camera and photography help and suggestions throughout our time there.
Rounding out the experience, we will be hosting an Online Live image review on Sunday Feb 2nd at 10am to share our favorite pictures from the day.
50% of the proceeds from this event will be going to support The Bird Rescue Center and their ongoing efforts of rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abandoned birds from eight northern California counties. The Center is currently building out a new facility which will be part of the Condor Recovery Program, to help save the California condor from extinction. If you would like to offer additional support to this incredible organization, you can donate directly to them, here.
The Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County rescues and releases over 3,000 rescued birds per year from eight different counties and serves as an information center for people all over the country. Currently working out of old World War II bunkers, the BRC is building a new, modern facility to house their avian hospital, resident education ambassador birds, and education programs. The new facility will become the next home site for critically endangered California condors in order to help expand the Condor Recovery Program and boost the population of only about 110 condors in California. Your participation in this workshop will help fund all of this work.
Joshua Asel is an award winning wildlife and conservation photojournalist. You may remember him from the Wingspan movie premiere we hosted at Looking Glass this past June. That short documentary has gone on to receive multiple awards and continues to be celebrated at film festivals, worldwide.
