Two-Day Workshop with Reid Thaler

- Location: Looking Glass Photo Classroom | Limited to 8 participants
Transform Your Images with Intention and Skill.
Lightroom Classic’s Develop Module is where the magic happens—and in this hands-on, two-part workshop, you’ll learn how to turn good captures into great photographs with clarity, control, and creative expression.
Designed for photographers who already have a basic understanding of Lightroom Classic (or experience with other image editing software), this class dives deep into the tools that bring your images to life. If you’re brand new to Lightroom, we recommend starting with our Library Module class first.
With guidance from instructor Reid Thaler, you’ll learn not just what each tool does, but when—and why—to use it. You’ll gain insight into how small adjustments in tone, color, and local detail can transform a flat image into something that reflects your vision and voice.
What You’ll Learn:
Session One:
-
Monitor calibration and setting up for success
-
Cropping, white balance, tonal control, and presence adjustments
-
Manual vs. automatic exposure refinements
-
Using the Tone panel for dynamic range and contrast
-
Local adjustments with brushes, radial and graduated filters
-
Advanced masking tools for selective edits
-
The power of the HSL panel for fine-tuned color control
Session Two:
-
Sharpening and noise reduction best practices
-
Spot removal, lens corrections, and red-eye fix
-
Creative tools: black & white conversion, split toning, film grain, vignetting
-
Building HDRs and panoramas within Lightroom
-
Workflow boosters: syncing edits, presets, snapshots, virtual copies
-
Using camera calibration and custom profiles
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of Lightroom’s creative potential, a personalized editing workflow, and the confidence to bring your photographic style to life.
What to Bring:
-
A laptop with Lightroom Classic installed (not the cloud-based version called just “Lightroom”)

A working knowledge of your image folder structure and file locations

A selection of RAW images to edit

A notebook and pen
-
