Morning Golden Hour on Elkhorn Slough
(September 28, 7:30–9:00am)
Join us for an unforgettable morning of wildlife photography in the breathtaking Elkhorn Slough, one of California’s most spectacular estuaries. This unique Golden Hour experience brings together photography, nature, and expert guidance—perfect for those looking to experience the quiet magic of Monterey Bay’s vibrant ecosystem at dawn.
A Three-Part Experience:
-
Session 1 – September 23 (Tuesday at 5:00pm, via Zoom): Kick things off with a prep session where we’ll discuss what to expect, camera settings, and tips for making the most of our time in the field.
-
Session 2 – September 28 (Sunday Morning Golden Hour, 7:30–9:00am): We’ll meet bright and early in Moss Landing to embark on a peaceful, 1.5-hour cruise through Elkhorn Slough aboard an electric-powered catamaran. Morning light creates soft, silvery tones that gradually warm, while wildlife stirs into activity—otters foraging, herons hunting, and shorebirds calling across the wetlands. The atmosphere is calm and contemplative, offering a chance to capture images that feel both intimate and ethereal.
-
Session 3 – October 5 (Sunday at 10:00am, via Zoom): Wrap up with an image review session, where we’ll celebrate our captures, exchange feedback, and relive the highlights of the excursion.
Why We’re Excited:
-
Small Group Experience – We’ve chartered the boat just for us! Only 12 photographers (on a vessel built for 32) = unobstructed views and plenty of room to move.
-
Expert Guidance – Learn from experienced photo instructors and California naturalists who will help you spot wildlife and refine your shots.
-
Eco-Friendly & Ethical – As certified Wildlife Stewards with Sea Otter Savvy on an electric boat, we ensure minimal disturbance to the incredible creatures that call this habitat home.
-
No Seasickness Worries – The calm, protected waters of the Slough make for an ultra-stable ride.
