Kevin's Fave Film Picks

Ilford FP4 Plus (35mm)
Ilford FP4+ is one of my favorite black & White films. It offers beautiful high contrast somewhat moody images that evoke emotion in a way I haven't found in any other film stock. The ISo ]SO of Ilford FP4+ is 125 which can be a little confusing or off putting especially with new film shooters, however I will generally simply set my camera to iso 100 and just slightly overexpose the film and it comes out beautifully. Lastly FP4+ handles long exposure really well adding to the moody look in the film in eerie long exposure work.
Harman Phoenix II 200 (120)
Phoenix II is a fantastic high contrast color street photography film. offering punchy high contrast especially in the blue and orange tones, and heavy crunchy film grain which gives an almost painterly quality to the images. While it definitely wouldn't call it a portrait film, it's one of the most intriguing street photography films I've ever shot with.

Rollei Infrared (35mm)
Shooting infrared black and white film is an incredible experience, and Rollei infrared is a fantastic true infrared spectrum black and white film. As a preface you do need to shoot through a red or infrared filter in order to achieve the infrared look on any infrared black and white film. This film is incredibly high contrast and will turn any foliage or greenery into an almost snow like white, while turning bare wood and some other materials stark black which creates a very ethereal almost otherworldly look to the photos. if you haven't tried infrared film i highly recommend it..
