Evening Golden Hour on Elkhorn Slough
(October 19, 4:30–6:00pm)
Join us for an unforgettable evening of wildlife photography in the breathtaking Elkhorn Slough, one of California’s most spectacular estuaries. This unique Golden Hour experience blends photography, nature, and expert guidance—ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in the warm, glowing close of day along Monterey Bay’s rich ecosystem.
A Three-Part Experience:
-
Session 1 – October 14 (Tuesday at 5:00pm, via Zoom): Begin with a prep session where we’ll discuss what to expect, camera settings, and tips for making the most of our time in the field.
-
Session 2 – October 19 (Sunday Evening Golden Hour, 4:30–6:00pm): We’ll meet in Moss Landing for a 1.5-hour cruise through Elkhorn Slough aboard an electric-powered catamaran. Evening light drapes the estuary in warm golds that deepen into fiery hues at sunset, creating dramatic backdrops for silhouettes and reflections. Wildlife winds down—otters raft together, pelicans return to roost, and raptors make their last passes overhead. The mood is vibrant yet serene, offering opportunities for images that feel rich, glowing, and alive with end-of-day energy.
-
Session 3 – October 30 (Thursday at 5:00pm, via Zoom): Conclude with an image review session where we’ll celebrate your photographs, share insights, and relive the highlights of our excursion.
Why We’re Excited:
-
Small Group Experience – A private charter for 12 photographers on a 32-passenger boat = space, flexibility, and unobstructed views.
-
Expert Guidance – Receive support from seasoned photo instructors and California naturalists who will help you spot wildlife and capture the moment.
-
Eco-Friendly & Ethical – As certified Wildlife Stewards with Sea Otter Savvy on an electric boat, we minimize impact on the Slough’s fragile ecosystem.
