This four hour class runs in the Looking Glass classroom and includes shooting exercises to apply what you are learning. Taught by local photographer and teacher, Reid Thaler, the class is limited to just eight students.
Come celebrate the natural world and learn to photograph close up where a flower becomes a world of its own. You'll learn the different methods of shooting macro photography, the costs, the tradeoffs one method offers over the others, as well as ways to address other challenges that shooting macro photography presents. You will receive group and individual support with time split between learning the tools and techniques of macro photography and shooting outside (the area/streets around Looking Glass Photo). Please bring a camera that can focus to within a few inches of the lens (Interchangeable lens cameras are great with a macro lens, extension tube, or other close up lenses; most point and shoot cameras have a built-in macro function; even a smartphone is suitable to shoot macro!), a tripod, preferably one that can be extended to lay close to the ground, and patience to explore, practice and play. Here’s what you’ll explore in this immersive class/workshop:
You should have a basic understanding of your camera's menus, how to navigate them and know how to set basic functions.
We require 72-hour notice for a full refund of the class registration fee.Â
