Most photographers eventually learn what the editing tools do. The harder and far more important skill is deciding what a particular photograph actually needs.
Should the image be brighter, or does one area simply need more separation? Is the color inaccurate, or merely distracting? Will more contrast create depth, or destroy the subtlety that made the photograph interesting in the first place?
There is no universal editing recipe because every photograph presents a different set of visual problems. Learning to edit well means learning to recognize those problems, make intentional decisions, and choose the right tools without resorting to random slider adjustments.
Edit With Me™ is a four-part, live online practicum led by photographer, educator, and master printmaker Rich Seiling. Drawing on a career that includes work at The Ansel Adams Gallery and decades at the forefront of digital fine-art printmaking, Rich will help you develop the judgment behind a thoughtful, finished edit.
Rich will provide five of his own image files, each selected because it presents a different editing challenge. Before each meeting, you will spend approximately one hour developing your own interpretation of the assigned photograph.
During the live sessions, Rich will examine the challenges within each image, discuss the class’s different approaches, provide feedback, and demonstrate the decisions and techniques behind his own finished edit. You will see not only what Rich changed, but why he changed it—and how each adjustment contributes to the photograph as a whole.
The goal is not to make every student produce an identical result. It is to help you understand the visual reasoning behind an effective edit so that you can apply the same thought process to your own photographs.

Who Should Attend
This course is designed for photographers who already understand the functions of their editing software but want to make stronger, more deliberate decisions.
It is not a beginner’s tour of Lightroom controls. It is for photographers who can operate the tools but sometimes struggle to determine which adjustments an image needs, how far to take them, or why an edit still does not feel complete.
About Rich Seiling
Rich Seiling is a photographer, educator, and master printmaker whose career has included work at The Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite, pioneering contributions to digital fine-art printmaking, and the production of exhibition and publication work for acclaimed photographers, museums, galleries, and publishers.
His teaching connects the traditions of the photographic darkroom with modern digital tools. Rather than relying on formulas or fashionable effects, Rich helps photographers learn to see their images more clearly, solve visual problems thoughtfully, and make edits that support their own creative intentions.
Come prepared to work, experiment, and occasionally reconsider everything you thought an image needed. You will leave with more than a collection of techniques—you will have a stronger process for approaching every photograph you edit.
