Photography adventures with Looking Glass have one core premise: Fun! They are designed to provide you with an interesting & accessible way to enjoy the social & educational joy of photography. They will bring us together while exploring unique places, sharing in our passion for photography and supporting one another as we go. Make new friends and create wonderful images as you get outside in the fresh air and explore.
Looking Glass Photo’s Jen Waicukauski is excited to lead and share this experience with you. The area along the San Mateo County coastline that she has selected offers something for just about everyone. You’ll find an abundance of sea life in the sprawling tide pools, bird life that is actively hunting fish at times, and of course beautiful and unique landscapes/seascapes. The images included here are just a few examples of what Jen has seen in the area. (PLEASE NOTE: Tide pools feature uneven, slick surfaces that require good balance and care when walking on them.)
Let’s prepare for a great day! The Zoom session will take place at 10:00am on May 25th. We will send the Zoom Invite the day before it is scheduled. And if you can't make this time, we'll have it recorded and send you the link.
Jen will provide tips and instruction for tide pool photography and discuss the location (i.e., getting there, where we'll meet, various photographic opportunities that exist there, the gear you may consider bringing based on your personal interests, the location, etc.). She'll also provide recommendations regarding how to dress for the day. In other words, Jen will be discussing how to get the best experience and photographs from your time at the tide pools. Plus, there will be time for Q&A. This session will run for approximately 60+ minutes.
Let’s learn, explore and take pictures together! The Adventure is limited to 10 people and will take place on Sunday morning, May 28th (a day before Jen's birthday!). We’ll embark on on our tide pool adventure at approximately 6:30am from the parking area. Plan to arrive a bit before 6:30am so we can gather and begin promptly. We’ll get lots of time to explore at peak low tide and photograph to our hearts' content for 3-4 hours. For reference, if you were to leave from Looking Glass on your way to the tide pools, Google Maps states the drive is roughly an hour drive to the planned destination. (please note: Looking Glass will not be providing transportation). Once you register for the Adventure, we’ll let you know the specific location for the tide pools as well as any other useful details in our Pre-Trip session mentioned above.
You'll have the freedom to discover the tide pools and focus on what interests you. It’s one path in and out, and you get to decide what you do on it! Jen from Looking Glass will be along to assist and provide instruction with any photography questions as they come up!
NOTE: Because it's an early morning adventure, after the tide pools Jen plans to grab brunch/lunch in the area and all who are interested are welcome to join.
Share your favorite images from the day! This is an optional session (and you're highly encourage to attend - these are very educational and fun) and will run at 10:00am. Jen will gather images that you submit to share in a slideshow and lead a group discussion about the day and the images.Â
All registrations are final. No refunds will be given.
