Lens rentals for the shot you have in mind

The right lens can completely change what is possible. A fast portrait prime can soften the background and bring attention to a face. A macro lens can reveal tiny details. A wide-angle lens can open up a room, trail, skyline, or interior. A long telephoto can bring wildlife, sports, performances, and distant subjects within reach.

Looking Glass Photo rents lenses for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, OM System, Panasonic, and other camera systems, with local pickup at our Rose Street store in North Berkeley. If you are not sure which lens fits your camera or your project, our team can help you choose something that makes sense before you head out to shoot.

Lens Rental FAQs

Click a question to expand the answer.

Do you rent Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, and other lenses?

Yes. Looking Glass Photo rents lenses for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, OM System, Panasonic, and other camera systems. Our rental selection includes portrait primes, wide-angle lenses, macro lenses, standard zooms, telephoto zooms, and specialty lenses.

How do I know if a rental lens will fit my camera?

Lens compatibility depends on your camera brand, mount, sensor format, and sometimes adapter setup. If you are not sure whether a lens will work with your camera, contact us before reserving and we’ll help you confirm the right fit.

What kind of lens should I rent for portraits, wildlife, sports, or travel?

For portraits, many photographers choose a fast prime or short telephoto lens. For wildlife and sports, a longer telephoto lens is usually the better fit. For travel, landscapes, interiors, and everyday shooting, a wide-angle or flexible zoom may make more sense.

If you’re unsure, tell us what you’re photographing and what camera you use. We can help you choose a lens that fits the shoot.

Can I rent a lens before buying one?

Yes. Lens rentals are a great way to test focal length, handling, autofocus, size, and image quality before making a purchase.

Through Try-Before-You-Buy, we credit half of your rental fee toward the same or comparable item when you purchase within 7 days of return.

Do you ship lens rentals?

No. Lens rentals are local pickup only. Rental lenses must be picked up and returned in person at Looking Glass Photo, 2095 Rose Street, Berkeley, CA 94709.
