Amber D400 Color Negative Movie Film

35mm, 27 Exposures, Single Roll

A color-shifting movie film for moody, cinematic photographs.

Amber D400 brings the character of motion-picture film to standard 35mm still cameras. Rated at ISO 400, it offers enough sensitivity for street photography, indoor scenes, flash, and lower-light situations while retaining fine grain and good sharpness.

This is a film with a distinct personality. Daylight can produce cool blue tones, while different artificial and ambient light sources can shift the palette toward warmer reds and amber hues. The final look will also vary with exposure, processing, and scanning, making each roll an opportunity to experiment.

The original anti-halation layer has been removed, allowing the film to be processed in standard C-41 chemistry and creating the potential for glow around bright highlights.

The Looking Glass Take

Amber D400 is not the film to choose when you want completely neutral or predictable color. Its appeal is the uncertainty. Light sources, exposure, and scanning can all push the color in different directions.

We think it is especially interesting for nighttime streets, concerts, neon, portraits with flash, and other situations where a little color surprise adds to the photograph. If you enjoy experimenting and want your film to have a clear point of view, D400 is a fun roll to try.
