Overview
The Peak Design Cuff Leather is a refined, minimalist wrist strap that protects a camera without covering it in bulky hardware. Made from premium full-grain leather, it connects through Peak Design’s quick-release Anchor system and automatically tightens around the wrist if the camera begins to fall.
Custom-machined aluminum hardware, slimmer Anchor connectors, and a clean, stitch-free appearance give the Cuff Leather a more understated look than a conventional camera strap. It offers the security of a working camera accessory while feeling at home on a carefully chosen rangefinder, compact camera, or mirrorless system.
What It Does Well
The Cuff Leather stays out of the way while the camera is in use. A low-profile nylon adjuster allows the loop to tighten automatically in a drop, while an aluminum stopper lets you fine-tune the fit around your wrist.
Peak Design’s quick-release Anchors allow the strap to be attached or removed in seconds. Each Anchor withstands more than 200 pounds of force, while the complete strap is rated to 100 pounds—well beyond the weight of a normal camera-and-lens combination.
Two included split rings provide compatibility with cameras whose strap eyelets are too small to accept an Anchor cord directly.
Who It’s For
This is an excellent fit for photographers who prefer to carry a camera in hand and want protection from accidental drops without using a neck or shoulder strap.
Its understated leather construction is particularly well suited to rangefinders, compact cameras, classic film cameras, and smaller mirrorless systems, although it is strong enough for substantially heavier equipment.
Photographers already using Peak Design straps can leave Anchors installed and quickly switch between the Cuff Leather and another compatible carrying option.
The Looking Glass Take
The standard Peak Design Cuff is the more purely practical choice. The Cuff Leather is for the photographer who wants the same quick connection and drop protection in something that feels considered every time the camera is picked up.
The full-grain leather will soften and develop character with use, which is part of its appeal. It also requires a little more care than nylon. If the strap will regularly encounter heavy rain, saltwater, or sweaty outdoor use, the standard Cuff is the more sensible tool. For everyday photography, travel, and a camera you enjoy carrying as much as using, the leather version earns its place.
It is a small luxury, but one attached to something important: keeping the camera off the ground.
